This Thursday's plenary session in the Albanian Parliament was accompanied by tensions and clashes between majority and opposition deputies, leading to the interruption of proceedings.
The incident occurred while the leader of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group, Taulant Balla, was speaking in the hall. Democratic MP Flamur Noka approached him and took away his microphone, interrupting his speech.
After this action and fierce debates among deputies, the Speaker of the Assembly, Niko Peleshi, announced the suspension of the plenary session.
The tensions come at a time when the country is facing ongoing student and citizen protests, while the Assembly meeting is taking place for the first time after the cancellation of last week's session.
It remains to be seen whether the Assembly's proceedings will continue normally after the interruption or whether clashes between the majority and the opposition will bring further tensions to the Parliament hall.
