The Ethics Secretariat has decided to expel six Democratic Party deputies from the Assembly for 60 days, following tensions and physical clashes recorded during Thursday's plenary session.
The expelled MPs are Flamur Noka, Belind Këlliçi, Edi Paloka, Fidel Kreka, Luçiano Boçi and Besart Xhaferri. During this period, they will not be allowed to participate in plenary sessions and parliamentary committee meetings.
The decision was made during the online meeting of the Ethics Secretariat, which took place without the participation of opposition representatives.
The Socialist Party had requested the expulsion of 20 Democratic MPs, accusing them of blocking the podium, insulting Socialist MPs, physical clashes, and damaging Parliament equipment.
However, the request for the 10-day suspension of 14 other DP deputies was rejected.
Thursday's session was accompanied by strong tensions between the majority and the opposition, including a clash between Flamur Noka and Taulant Balla. Despite the chaos in the hall, the parliamentary majority continued with the voting of the draft laws on the agenda.
