Public university professors have begun a march towards the Albanian Parliament, joining the protest against the government of Prime Minister Edi Rama. They initially gathered in front of the Central Corps of the Polytechnic University of Tirana, from where they began the movement in support of the students.
With banners in their hands, the teachers expressed solidarity with the youth, who have been protesting against the government for ten days. "Don't touch the students," "Students are not alone," and "When the student is hit, the future is hit" are some of their messages.
A day earlier, lecturers announced a boycott of the teaching process at public universities, stating that this decision will remain in effect until further notice.
The teachers' protest is taking place in parallel with the student rally in front of the Parliament, where a plenary session is being held this Thursday. In addition to supporting the students, the teachers have also demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama.
It remains to be seen whether the protest will take place peacefully or whether it will be accompanied by tensions and clashes with police forces, as has happened in recent days.
