Socialist MP Briseida Çakërri has become the protagonist of another embarrassing episode in the Parliament, after she failed to read the text in front of her without getting confused during the discussion of the draft budget and Fiscal Package in the Economy Committee.
The video published in the media shows the MP constantly confusing words and losing the thread of the discussion, despite reading from a written material.
After the video spread on social media, Çakërri reacted by calling the incident a "slip" and complaining about the mobilization of the portals.
But slips are human. We can all get our words mixed up during a public discussion. Failing to read a prepared text, whether by yourself or others, is another issue that raises questions about the preparation of elected representatives.
The irony becomes even greater when you learn that Briseida Çakërri is a teacher by profession. Before taking up her mandate as an MP, she worked as a senior lecturer at the "Pavarësia" University College in Vlora, since October 2016.
Her case comes after another similar episode with Minister Adea Pirdeni, who became confused during a public speech, apologizing with an "Ohh, sorry," while Prime Minister Edi Rama intervened to help her continue.
When representatives of the majority have difficulty reading the texts prepared for them, the question naturally arises as to how deeply they know the documents and laws they are discussing and voting on.
And if such episodes continue to repeat, it seems that in the Renaissance, difficulty in reading is turning into a contagious disease.
