The Slalom race for the Alpine Skiing World Cup for women took place in Are, Sweden this Sunday. The skier representing Albania, Lara Colturi, came in eighth place, 2.09 seconds behind the American champion of this race, Mikaela Shiffrin. Also on the podium were Emma Aicher of Germany and Wendy Holdener of Switzerland.
The 19-year-old finished the first run in sixth place, stopping the clock with a time of 51 seconds and 26 hundredths, while the second run did not bring what was needed for the podium. Lara ranked 22nd in the second run with a time of 54 seconds and 18 hundredths, while overall with a time of 1 minute, 45 seconds and 44 hundredths she ranked 8th.
On Saturday, the Italian-Albanian skier finished 7th in the Giant Slalom. Earlier this season, Lara has secured four podium finishes, two second places (Levi and Gurgl) and two third places (USA and Semmering).
'Queen' Mikael Shiffrin - The American won the 109th race of her career, while 14 years ago, when she was only 17 years old, she secured her first career victory, precisely on the Are track in Sweden. The 31-year-old has ten victories on this track.
Next week the Alpine Skiing World Cup has its final stop of the season, in Lillehammer, Norway.
