The announcement of the sentences against four former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army was followed by protests and tensions, with Albanian citizens taking to the streets from Pristina to The Hague to oppose the decision of the Specialist Chambers.
Rallies have been held in Pristina and other cities in Kosovo in support of Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selim, while citizens have expressed their dissatisfaction after the announcement of the sentences.
Protests have also taken place in The Hague, where supporters of former KLA leaders have gathered near justice institutions to oppose the verdict.
The situation has also been accompanied by moments of tension. In the footage published from the protest, several Albanian citizens are seen riding on police vehicles.
The four former KLA leaders were sentenced to a total of 81 years in prison. Hashim Thaçi and Jakup Krasniqi each received 25 years in prison, Kadri Veseli was sentenced to 18 years, and Rexhep Selimi to 13 years.
The Specialist Chambers' decision has sparked widespread reactions in Kosovo, with protesters gathering in Pristina and The Hague opposing the sentences handed down to former KLA leaders.
