A 24-year-old Albanian man has died after being stabbed during a fight in Vescovato, Italy. The victim has been identified as N. Dalipaj, while the suspected perpetrator is 32-year-old Italian Mattia Miraglia, who has been arrested by police.
According to Italian media, the young Albanian was shot three times in the neck. He was rushed to hospital, but could not survive his injuries and died despite the efforts of doctors.
The suspected perpetrator was also injured during the conflict and is under police surveillance at Maggiore Hospital.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the conflict may have started for sentimental reasons, related to jealousy over a girl. Initially, there was an argument between the two young men in a bar, which seemed to have ended without consequences.
However, later, the 24-year-old Albanian, accompanied by his brothers, went near the 32-year-old's apartment in Vescovato. According to the preliminary reconstruction of the incident by the Italian authorities, Miraglia came down from the apartment armed with a knife, first wounded one of the victim's brothers in the stomach and then stabbed the 24-year-old to death.
Italian authorities are continuing their investigations to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident and document the dynamics of the conflict.
