The Vetëvendosje Movement is holding a General Council meeting on Tuesday to appoint a candidate for prime minister of Kosovo.
Glauk Konjufca was nominated as the candidate for the new prime minister of Kosovo. His vote is now expected in the Council of the Vetëvendosje Movement.
Albin Kurti, in his speech to the General Council, calls on the opposition to vote for Konjufca.
"This proposal is in function of approving the budget for next year," Kurti said.
Following the proposal from the Vetëvendosje Movement, Glauk Konjufca should be mandated by the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani.
After being mandated, LVV has 15 days to call a session to vote on the government in the Assembly. So far, Vetëvendosje has 56 votes, safe, based on Kurti's vote on October 26.
The Democratic League of Kosovo is not voting, according to today's latest statement.
The same stance is expected to be taken by the Democratic Party of Kosovo, the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, and NISMA, at least based on the recent statements of the leaders of these parties and their willingness to hold extraordinary elections.
Even the second-term candidate needs 61 votes to be elected prime minister.
It now remains for the Vetëvendosje Movement to hold meetings with other parties within the 15-day deadline to secure the necessary votes if the main goal is to form a government, as experts in domestic politics see this move by the Vetëvendosje movement as an attempt to postpone the date of the extraordinary elections to the end of December, since the diaspora is on its end-of-year break.
