Opinion from Ergys Mertiri
Wanting to justify the fact that there are no firefighting aircraft, Prime Minister Rama said that it should be seen if it is worth it because the countries that have them have suffered more than Albania from fires.
The stupid logic of the culprit is accompanied by a shameless lie.
Yes, Greece and Turkey have had more fires than Albania: Greece has had about 50-60 active fires in recent days, Turkey about 300, while Albania, according to some sources, has over 60, while according to others, about 30 fires. But it should be calculated that Greece has about 40 thousand square kilometers of forests, Turkey about 200 thousand, while Albania less than 8 thousand. From this it follows that, even if we take the best sources, Albania has a much worse situation than the others in relation to its forest area. Practically, the number of fires in Albania is about 5 times higher than in Greece and Turkey in relation to the forest area.
The problem is above all that this is a recurring situation and the government does not even bother. It is reported by European institutions that in Albania every year about 50 thousand hectares of land are burned, a good part of which is forest, which is certainly alarming. Beyond the mathematics of the Prime Minister who is caught in the act, the damages caused are much greater than the costs of the planes.
The unfortunate fact is that we are the only country in the region that does not have any firefighting aircraft.
Greece has 39 aircraft
Macedonia 3 aircraft
Montenegro 4 aircraft
Albania 0
This data is indicative of the simple fact that bad government burns more than fire.
