Milena Mancini, a 56-year-old Italian businesswoman, has died in Istanbul after 20 days in intensive care at the University Hospital, following an unexpected complication during a routine liposuction operation. According to information still unclear from the official sources, she may have suffered an accidental injury to her stomach during the procedure.
Milena was the daughter of industrialist Alvaro Mancini, one of the founders of Indexa SpA, and had two daughters. Her sister, Rita Mancini, is a renowned biologist at La Sapienza University in Rome.
The Italian Consulate in Istanbul has been in contact with the family since his hospitalization on September 18 and, following the news of his death, has requested explanations from the hospital to clarify the causes of the sudden deterioration.
