Turkish club Galatasaray has made an official offer to Albanian-born singer Dua Lipa to perform at the championship celebrations expected to take place in Istanbul. According to reports, the offer is worth $2 million to perform four songs during the festive ceremony.
The invitation to the Albanian artist is not only seen as a marketing move, but also as a symbolism linked to the club's history. Galatasaray SK is often considered the "Istanbul Albanian team", due to the roots of its founding.
The club was founded in 1905 by Ali Sami Yen, the son of the famous Albanian Renaissance man Sami Frashëri. This historical connection to the Frashërlli family gives the invitation to Dua Lipa a special meaning for Albanian and Turkish fans.
