Classical music has produced some of the greatest and most immortal compositions in history. The renowned Thomann blog lists 10 works that have left an indelible mark on world culture, influencing generations of musicians and listeners.
Among the selected masterpieces are the “Brandenburg Concertos” by Johann Sebastian Bach, one of the most important compositions of the Baroque period, as well as “The Messiah” by Georg Friedrich Händel, a famous oratorio that continues to be performed around the world.
The list also includes the Piano Concerto No. 3 in D minor by Sergei Rachmaninoff, considered one of the most technically challenging pieces for pianists, as well as “The Four Seasons” by Antonio Vivaldi, a work that musically describes the seasons of the year and remains a symbol of musical genius.
Other iconic composers are also present. Ludwig van Beethoven appears with Symphony No. 5, one of the most famous works ever, while Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is represented with the opera “The Magic Flute”, which continues to enchant stages around the world.
Also on the list are "Ride of the Valkyries" by Richard Wagner, the eternal glory of operatic music, as well as "Swan Lake" by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, one of the most iconic ballets of all time.
