The Democratic Party will establish a special agency for the confiscation of assets generated from illegal activity and used for money laundering. This was stated by the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, during a conversation with citizens, warning of a policy of “zero tolerance” towards organized crime.
According to Berisha, the agency will deal with all properties suspected of being created with money derived from criminal activity.
"Special national agency, all facilities built with money laundering are confiscated. Only a zero-tolerance crackdown on organized crime is the best response to guarantee the lives of tourists and Albanians in Albania. Zero tolerance towards organized crime," Berisha said.
The DP leader also commented on the arrival of the new American ambassador to Albania, about whom he spoke positively, while also speaking about the possibility of his visit to the United States.
"With what I have read, I have a very positive opinion. A man with extensive experience, so my opinion is completely positive. Of course, as I said, I will go to the US mostly on the occasion of a conference and I will inform you," he declared.
Berisha also touched on Prime Minister Edi Rama's initiative to create a sovereign state of the Bektashi Order, reiterating the Democratic Party's opposition to the project.
According to him, the initiative conflicts with the secular character of the Albanian state and risks violating religious harmony. But Berisha went further, claiming that behind the project lies the aim of creating mechanisms that would enable money laundering.
"It openly contradicts the secular character of the Albanian state from its founding until today, attempting to incite religious division in a country where religious tolerance and cooperation is the greatest thing in the soul of that people."
He also wants to create the Ed currency, because Ramaduro now needs to launder billions with a special bank, of the so-called sovereign state or the second Vatican. So, it is strictly about an operation with which Edi Rama will have a state for money and diplomatic passports. The DP has been and is categorically against this anti-constitutional, anti-Albanian, anti-national initiative, and so on," said Berisha.
