The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, commenting on the arrest of Ergys Agas, said that he was a man with extensive power within Edi Rama's government. At the press conference, the leader of the DP claimed that Agas had influence in important state institutions and even the appointment of interior ministers.
"Ergys Agasi, Edi Rama's coordinator for all criminal organizations and drug cartels. The man who, through the AKSHI of Linda, Linda of Surrel or the patroness of AKSHI and Linda the director, controlled every data of Albanian and foreign citizens in Albania. Ergys Agasi was and is the person who, according to verbal statements, changed, appointed the ministers of the Interior and had a thin control over SHIK, already repeatedly denounced by me for years. The friendship of the chairwoman of SHIK with Agas has been repeatedly denounced by this platform", said the leading democrat.
But, beyond the accusations that the democrat leader raised against the government, Berisha does not seem to be going to change the DP's course in the two joint commissions for Electoral and Territorial Reform.
According to Berisha, the DP will continue to be at the table with the majority in the relevant committees, while announcing that further steps will be determined today at the meeting of the DP National Council.
"We will undoubtedly respond to the unilateral boycott that Edi Rama made of the territorial reform. Our next stance will be determined today on the steps we will take. We are not backing down from the categorical rejection of Edi Rama's reform. We are using every space we can find to oppose it," said Berisha.
Thus, while outside Parliament, Berisha does not spare accusations against Rama with people connected to crime, within the institutions, the DP continues to sit down with the Socialists to negotiate two of the main political reforms.
