US President Donald Trump declared on Tuesday that no talks with Iran are taking place or are planned, dismissing any possibility of new diplomatic contacts at this stage.
"There are no talks or contacts taking place or planned with the Islamic Republic of Iran," Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.
Trump also stated that the US naval blockade remains in effect, while claiming that the Strait of Hormuz is open and functional and that all naval mines have been removed or neutralized.
The US president's statements come at a time of high tension between Washington and Tehran, as the two sides' positions on the status of the Strait of Hormuz remain diametrically opposed. Reuters reported that while Trump considers the strait open, Iranian negotiator Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf has stated that it will remain closed until the US meets Tehran's conditions.
