Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha has announced the establishment of a parliamentary investigative commission to investigate the actions of the head of the Special Prosecution Office, Altin Dumani. In a press conference, Berisha accused Dumani of being a key actor behind Prime Minister Edi Rama in what he called an "electoral crime" and "state capture."
According to Berisha, the current regime in Albania represents a new form of authoritarian dictatorship, which is not based on ideology, but on the control of drugs and organized crime. He emphasized that this criminal structure has captured all institutions, including the judiciary, the police and the electoral process.
"Albania's authoritarian dictatorship is driven by drugs. This dictatorship appoints ministers, police directors, judges and holds prosecutors like Altin Dumani hostage. Files 339 and 184 were amnestied on his orders, giving the Party of Crime a license to destroy any future electoral process," Berisha declared.
The opposition leader said he will launch an intensive campaign to raise awareness among citizens to protect their vote and freedoms.
Asked if this initiative includes the establishment of a parliamentary investigative commission for Altin Dumani, Berisha replied: "Everything is possible, not just for Dumani. He is an accomplice of Edi Rama in manipulating the elections. This is our objective: restoring the free vote of Albanians."
At the end of the statement, Berisha promised that many new data would be made public in the coming days through what he called the "laptop period", accusing Rama of being a "bastard of a communist executioner".
